Scientific AI, on your institution's terms
AI can bring computational expertise to every research team. For your teams to use it privately and safely on their data and research questions, it has to follow your institution's policies and legal obligations. Zatoona Labs gives your researchers a scientific AI workbench that your institution governs.
Governed by your policies
You decide where it runs, which models it uses and who can see your data. These choices are set for your whole deployment.
- Where it runs
- Zatoona Cloud in the EU, or your own environment, such as a digital research environment.
- Which models
- EU-hosted providers that keep nothing. Inside your institution, also your own hosted models and approved endpoints.
- What may leave
- Model calls pass one gateway, with the models and limits set for your deployment.
- What is recorded
- Logins, file activity and runs, in an audit log that stays with your deployment, and every model call at the gateway.
- Who can see it
- Inside your institution, no one at Zatoona. On Zatoona Cloud, we open data only for support, at your request.
- The paperwork
- A data processing agreement, our list of sub-processors, and the architecture and data flows your DPIA needs.
Every safeguard, in detail: Privacy and security

What it is worth to your institution
Every group gets computational capacity
Groups with the data and the questions but no bioinformatician of their own can take on whole analyses, and your core facility keeps its time for the hardest problems.
Fewer dead ends at the bench
Findings are stress-tested before they cost lab time, patient samples or a grant cycle.
Methods outlive the people who wrote them
Analyses run as reproducible workflows the institution keeps, so a method stays when a PhD student or postdoc moves on.
One route to approve, instead of many
One setup and one set of safeguards, so research leadership can say yes to AI without reviewing a new tool for every lab.
Available to every group from the first day.
How we get started
Most institutions start with a pilot: a few groups, real projects, and your review built in.
A first conversation
About your research groups, the data they work with and the questions they want to take on.
Scope it together
Choose the groups and projects to start with, on Zatoona Cloud or in-house, and agree what a good outcome looks like.
Your review
We work through your process with your privacy officer, IT and information management, and share the architecture and data flows they need.
Run the pilot
Your researchers work in Zatoona Labs with support from our team, and we check in with them regularly.
Decide together
We look at what the groups found and how they worked, and decide with you whether and how to open it to more labs.
How we see working together
We are looking for a small number of institutions to build Zatoona Labs with.
Built with your researchers
As one of our first institutions, your researchers shape what we build next: the workflows, tools and databases their work needs.
Your data, your findings
Your data and results stay yours. Nothing about your work is published without your sign-off, and any case study is written with you.
A team you can reach
A direct line to the people building Zatoona Labs, for onboarding, training and the questions your groups bring.
Room to grow
Start with a few groups, then open the same setup to more labs and departments when you are ready.
Talk to us
We start where your questions are. The people who usually get in touch, and what they ask about first:
- Research leaders: what it can do for your groups and programs
- IT and information security: the architecture, and running it in your environment
- Privacy officers: data flows, the processing agreement and your DPIA
We are glad to walk your privacy officer and IT team through the architecture before anything starts. Prefer email? contact@zatoona.ai
